The magician displays what appears to be a coffin, complete with the traditional display stand on castors. The end of the coffin is opened, and a tray is pulled out. Next the magician's assistant lays down on the tray and the tray and girl is pushed back into the coffin. A lit torch tossed into the coffin and the end door is closed. The person inside is then apparently set on fire! The performer removes the lid of the coffin, the four sides are let down, and the remains of the cremated and smoldering skeleton remain!

We recently acquired this original Abbott’s Magic and Manufacturing Company Burned Alive illusion. Probably built in the late 1960’s, perhaps early 1970’s, this is a jewel piece for the Abbott’s collector. The prop shows some use, but it is in remarkable condition considering its age and make. There has been some restoration done to the illusion, but the refurbishment was done professionally and meticulously to keep the illusion as original as possible. The illusion is fully functional and ready for immediate use.

To avert the use of fire, the modern magician could easily attach a small smoke machine to the prop to give it “fire effect.” Despite its incredible effect, the Burned Alive illusion (also sometimea known as the Cremation illusion) is relatively safe and easy to perform. While caution must be observed in performing any effect of this nature, this is an incredible illusion that can have incredible impact upon an audience. Note that this illusion is sold “as is.” No warranty is made or claimed. By purchasing this illusion, the user assumes all liability for the use or misuse of this product. Buyer must arrange for pick-up in Fort Worth, Texas. Or the prop can be shipped via truck with the shipping pre-paid by the customer.
