Resting onstage is a simple chair. The magician entices his assistant to sit in the chair and then covers her and the chair with a large cloth covering. Suddenly the magician whips the cover away and his assistant instantaneously vanishes!

The DeKolta Chair was popularized a number of years ago by the late Doug Henning on one of his early television specials. When performed correctly, it is a shocking vanish of a human being. Ideally the illusion is performed where a trap door in the stage floor is available. Others have performed the effect where the assistant "sneaks out" behind the covered chair and through an upstage curtain. The illusion can also be performed on top of various illusion bases. Deceptive Steps type tables for the DeKolta Chair are also available for additional cost. Please inquire.
