The magician displays an ornate looking wooden box. The box is shown to be ordinary and innocent looking on all sides. Inside the box is a drawer. The magician pulls the drawer out and shows it to be completely empty. The drawer is closed, the magician gives Drawer Box a magical moment, the magician pulls out the drawer once again, and the drawer is filled with literally anything that will fit in the drawer! Ribbons, silk hanks, plush teddy bears, and even lives animals such as doves, a rabbit, or even a small dog! The possibilities are endless! Likewise, the box can be used to vanish items as well. In fact there are some magicians who even use the box to produce the props for their entire show. Then to climax their show, they place the props back in the box and make them disappear.
The Drawer Box is one of the oldest magic principle ever devised. In fact the box appears in some of the early 1900’s magic books. Probably because of its simplicity and ease of operation, and the fact that the effect can be performed surrounded, this versatile prop has come in all shapes and sizes. This particular version is a gently used vintage piece that was distributed by the late MAK Magic company of Columbus, Ohio. Almost in pristine condition, the box is huge and measures about 12 x 8 x 7-3/4 inches. It is a handsome looking prop that can be used in the living room setting as well as on the platform or stage.
