Thanks to the great Marvello (Lester Lake), magicians have been magically chopping hands and heads for many years! It was probably the late U. F. Grant who invented the unique version that we now know of as the French Arm Chopper. In effect, an unsuspecting volunteer in brought onstage and the magician then unveils an incredible looking chopping machine. The magician removes the aluminum blade from the chopper and displays it for examination by the volunteer and visually to the audience. From the backside of the prop, a volunteer is coerced to place their hand into the chopper as the magician then inserts the blade. After a few terrible one-liners and jokes, the magician pushes the blade downward. Astonishingly, the spectator’s actual hand is seen to fall into the felt bag below! Startling is an understatement! Of course the spectator is completely unharmed. This great illusionette packs flat and yet it is very easy and quick to set up. While it weighs only 2-3 pounds, it has wonderful comedic and entertainment potential. 001CBMFRENCHARMCHOP
