The traditional Gag Bag was invented by the late Dr. Cleve Haubold, a Theatre professor at the University of Texas at Austin. In addition to being a great performer, he was also well known as Van Cleve. In his presentation, the magician displays an ornate colored cloth bag. He turns the bag inside out to show a different color and pattern. Suddenly the magician turns the bag inside out once again to show an even different cloth color and pattern! This inside-out movement is repeated five full times and each time the bag inside is different. 
 
Since Van Cleve's demise, many have made versions of the Gag Bag effect. With this new and unique Zoo Gag Bag, the magician shows the outside of the bag which shows the entrance to the zoo. Lots of fun and audience participation as the spectators are encouraged to guess which animals are to be found at the zoo. It is easy for the performer and audience to make lots of animal actions and noises. Each time the bag is turned inside out, a different zoo animal is shown. These include the the seal, snake, elephant, lion, bear, and of course the monkey (and silhouette).
 
Then the magician announces that the monkey has gone missing from the zoo, and it is his job to find it with the help of his audience. The children see a picture of a monkey when the bag is turned inside out, however, the magician fails to see it. More and more animals are shown, a different one each time, but the magician never sees the monkey. In the end the magician looks inside the bag and this time the audience sees a silhouette of the monkey. The mischievous monkey has disappeared!
 
The magician turns around and the monkey is seen attached to his back. Or the 2D cut out monkey (included) can be found on a spectator's back or elsewhere.
