The magician displays what appears to be a vintage book. The book is opened and flames shoot out of the top of the book! The magician then closes the book to extinguish the flames. This is probably one of the finest Hot Books that has ever been introduced to the magic fraternity since it’s inventor, the late Bev Bergeron, first introduced the effect back in the 1970’s. Unfortunately since then, many questionable burning books have found their way onto the market. Battery operated glow plugs and the like may have their place in society, but they do not work well for most fire magic effects.
 
So what’s the solution? Why the Bic cigarette lighter of course! It makes absolutely no sense to re-invent the wheel when reliable, inexpensive, readily available, and time-tested technology already exists. The maker of this Hot Book has taken a hollow book and installed a burn pad that must be saturated with regular cigarette lighter fluid such as Ronsonol or equivalent. Also in the book is a metal sheath that is designed to hold the lighter in place. Push down on the cigarette lighter button and the Hot Book lights as well!
 
Is it dependable? When was the last time you struck a Bic lighter and it didn’t light? What happens when the lighter runs out of fuel? Simply pull the lighter out of the book, toss it away, and slide a new lighter into the metal lighter sheath. Do note however that this product uses BIC EZ Reach Lighters. They are easy to google and are readily available on Amazon and at other distributors. This book is well-made, lined with a metal pan to help prevent book combustion, and very decorative book-like in appearance.
