The magician displays two ropes. One is red and the other is white. The magician ties a knot toward the end of the red rope and then twirls the two ropes together. When the ropes are pulled back apart, the red knot has jumped from the red rope and onto the white rope!  The magician unties the red knot from the white rope and a small section of the rope is red, exactly where the knot jumped from rope to rope!
