Zone Zero is one of the most diabolical magic effects ever invented by the late Jerry Andrus. The trick is hard to describe and unbelievable when seen performed. In essence, the magician displays a plastic board that is approximately 11 X 17 inches, and about an eighth of an inch thick. The board has a hole through its middle, just big enough for the magician’s hand to fit through. After showing both sides of the board and demonstrating that the magician’s hands are empty, the performer inserts the right hand into the hole and produces a colorful rubber ball. Then when the magician puts the ball back through the hole, it completely disappears. This effect is repeated two or three times. Despite the simple effect, the mystery deepens because there is absolutely no apparent place to hide the ball.
